NGO “New Horizon”, in partnership with NGO “Tolerance Corner”, has launched the implementation of the project “CrossKultura – Horizon of Understanding”, which aims to empower young people from Ulcinj and Bar through the promotion of intercultural dialogue, tolerance, and respect for diversity. The project is funded by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights.
Over the next 11 months, 25 young activists will attend the School of Intercultural Dialogue, a non-formal educational program where they will learn about human and minority rights, overcoming prejudice, non-violent communication, democratic principles, and active citizenship.
In addition, the project will include joint meetings and study visits for young people, awareness-raising campaigns, and intercultural events. At the final activity, participants who successfully complete the program will be awarded certificates of participation in the project.
Through these activities, participating young people will:
-
develop knowledge and competencies related to interculturalism and human and minority rights;
-
recognize their role in building a democratic and inclusive society;
-
establish cooperation and exchange experiences with peers from different communities;
-
contribute to raising public awareness of coexistence and reducing ethnic distance.
All these activities will contribute to the overall goal of the project – educating young people about intercultural values and empowering them to promote and practice in everyday life the concepts of tolerance, diversity, and understanding in a multiethnic society.
The project is of particular importance for multicultural communities such as Ulcinj and Bar, where ethnic and linguistic diversity represents a valuable asset that should be preserved. Through education, joint meetings, and shared initiatives, “CrossKultura” will contribute to reducing ethnic distance, strengthening mutual trust, and building an inclusive society.
