{"id":3904,"date":"2014-12-15T11:51:59","date_gmt":"2014-12-15T10:51:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ngo-horizonti.org\/en\/?p=3904"},"modified":"2015-12-28T11:58:48","modified_gmt":"2015-12-28T10:58:48","slug":"youth-in-euro-atlantic-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ngo-horizonti.org\/en\/youth-in-euro-atlantic-dialogue\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth in Euro-Atlantic Dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project \u201c<strong>YOUTH in EUROATLANTIC\u00a0DIALOGUE<\/strong>\u201d is a\u00a0mutual program of our organization and NGO \u201eSpona\u201c from\u00a0Berane, which is realized in the same period (september &#8211; december\u00a02014) in Bar and Bijelo Polje, and is supported by\u00a0the US Embassy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The overall objective<\/strong> of this project was to contribute the\u00a0spreading of Euro-Atlantic\u00a0values among youngsters in Bar\u00a0region. On the other hand, <strong>the specific objective<\/strong> was the education of high school\u00a0seniors in Bar on Euro-Atlantic\u00a0integrations \u2013 the emergence, the development and the\u00a0functioning of NATO Alliance as well as the membership process, with a big accent on\u00a0Montenegro\u2019s status in that process.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Implemented\u00a0activities<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Novi Horizont started this project by seeking partner organizations in Bar so that the\u00a0Euro-Atlantic\u00a0education program would start off as successful as possible. Thus, in the\u00a0early stages of this project we entered into partnership with Biznis StartUp\u00a0Center from\u00a0Bar which helped us in linking with students and their professors. These channels also\u00a0helped us in organizing project presentations in schools. Soon after, a group of 30\u00a0students was formed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The official beginning of the project was organized on the premises of our partner\u00a0organization on 24th of October, 2014. That same day, the first lecture \u201cThe idea of\u00a0Euro-Atlanticism\u00a0\u2013 Introduction to NATO\u201d was held. Lectures were held every week and\u00a0the topics were discussed in the following order:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The emergence and development of international security system<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The role of NATO in NWO<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Montenegro and Euro-Atlantic\u00a0integrations<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">NATO structure and decision-making\u00a0process<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Security threats in modern era \u2013 21st century fears ose fear in 21st century<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Workshops lasted for about 2 hours and were facilitated by licensed trainers who have\u00a0great experience in working with youth. Every workshop included specific relaxation\u00a0games and exercises, video presentations and numerous other activities which helped in\u00a0increasing the level of interaction among participants as well as in stimulating them to\u00a0actively take part in the program. Besides learning about NATO, participants gained new\u00a0knowledge and skills on team building, leadership, debating, decision making, breaking\u00a0prejudice, etc. Workshops also included short breaks so the participants could refresh\u00a0themselves with drinks and croissants that were provided for them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here\u2019s the schedule of one of the workshops:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">11:00 &#8211; 11:10 Introduction, organization and project presentation<br \/>\n11:10 &#8211; 11:25 The introduction of participants (through the exercise \u201cthree similar &amp; three\u00a0different things)<br \/>\n11:25 &#8211; 11:35 Rules of group work<br \/>\n11:35 &#8211; 11:50 Expectations (STICKERS)<br \/>\n11:50 &#8211; 12:05 Break<br \/>\n12:05 &#8211; 12:35 Presentation \u2013 Introduction to Euro-Atlanticism\u00a0(PowerPoint presentation)<br \/>\n12:35 &#8211; 12:50 Oral evaluation and arrangements for the next workshop<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><p>Invalid Displayed Gallery<\/p><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By the end of six workshop sessions, we organized the reception of high school students\u00a0from Bijelo Polje who attended the same education program that was organized by NGO\u00a0\u201cSPONA\u201d during the project period. For our guest from Bijelo Polje, we prepared the\u00a0following agenda:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Reception in the City Hall BAR<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Old Bar visit (the fortress, museum)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Botanic garden visit<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cultural center visit (Kralj Nikola Palace)<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A walk by the Bar\u2019s marine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><p>Invalid Displayed Gallery<\/p><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Soon after that, students from Bar visited Bijelo Polje (26.11.2014) and this is how the\u00a0agenda of that visit looked like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bijelo Polje City Hall visit<\/li>\n<li>Riste Ratkovic Memorial House visit<\/li>\n<li>Museum visit<\/li>\n<li>City Mosque visit<\/li>\n<li>SV. Petar\u2019s Church visit<\/li>\n<li>Free Time (for students of two regions to hang out together)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><p>Invalid Displayed Gallery<\/p><\/p>\n<p>These two visits served as a great opportunity for students of both regions to meet and\u00a0get to know each other better, to learn about each other\u2019s culture and customs, and\u00a0exchange experiences gained from the Euro-Atlantic\u00a0education program.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Certificates were made for 28 high school students who successfully finished this\u00a0program. This fact indicates that the number of students on this program was\u00a0satisfactory and that the program was a successful one. Awarding ceremony was\u00a0organized in NATO Info Center in Podgorica on the 12th of December. Certificates that\u00a0were previously signed by the ambassador Sue K. Brown were handed to participants by\u00a0DCM B.
